DIY Printing Guide Our stunning laser cut invitations are proving popular with their matching inserts and envelopes. Things to consider: Buy a sample! This will allow you to experiment without committing to a large order.
These are generally used for mounting or decorating invitations. You can usually get two square inserts, or three DL-sized inserts from one sheet of A4.
This would depend on the insert size, so make sure you check this. Printing at home: You will require a laser printer to print on the pearlised papers and inserts. They may or may not charge for this but as you say better than being left with sheets of unwanted cardstock. Have tried it out today with a sample sheet of 2-sided Supreme Pearlescent gsm in oyster - worked a treat!
Image crisp and clear with no waiting to dry before handling. For anyone else thinking of doing similar, I would stress that I was using an office quality photocopier not a domestic inkjet printer.
However, good to know that you can run this type of card through a photocopier and get good results. Would an office quality photocopier be using laser or inkjet? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I'd quite like to use pearlescent sometimes. I have an HP wireless inkjet printer. I previously tried printing onto Centura Pearl card with great results. It looked lovely and went through the printer no problem I printed about 5 different pages.
Then - for no apparent reason - the next time I tried to print onto the same card, it went through the printer - making all the noises as if it was printing as normal - but the card came out TOTALLY blank! I have tried it again several times - but it keeps doing the same thing.
Very bizarre and extremely annoying!! My PInterest profile. I have printed on pearlised card too, using a HP inkjet, you just have to set the card type to phot paper - best quality so that it doesn't get over - inked!!
New2Craftz, try removing your printer software from your computer and re-loading it, or, even better, disconnect your printer, connect to the internet THEN plug in your printer, if you have Windows XP or later your computer will automatically download the latest software and that should solve the problem.
I've got both an inkjet and laser printer, but can't get the laser printer to even pick up thick card so will have to use the inkjet. If it's best to get them printed professionally, does anyone have recommendations for cheap places which does it? Unfortunately, some pearlescent doesn't print on inkjets. PDA are right in what they say.
It needs to be laser printed at the very least. The problem with inkjet is that the ink just sits on the surface and looks patchy and NEVER dries so can smudge very easily. I've also found this to be the case with pearlescent card. Inkjet printers leave the text looking very blotchy. Have you considered printing on a plain card instead? I've never had a problem with this.
