Why packer fans hate favre

In fact, the more I think about it, the more sense it makes. Everything I loved about Brett Favre drove him to the position he was in.

He loved Green Bay. I truly believe that. He loved the fans and he loved playing at Lambeau. Those weren't crocodile tears at the press conference in spring; he was truly heartbroken to be hanging it up.

But when he decided to come back the second time that spring and the Packers basically said "Sorry, we've moved on," Favre was jilted. He was more than jilted; he was heartbroken, like I'd been watching him admit defeat in retirement.

The passion and fire that made him a great quarterback was driving his actions. Even if it was the best decision for the Packers to trade Favre instead of bring him back. Brett never saw it that way, and how could we expect him to? From a fans perspective, what Favre has done seems unforgivable. In Green Bay, more than anywhere else, they're the ones writing checks for the players. He owed it to the fans to think with more clarity about their reaction to his decision.

I can't justify his actions, but for me, there is no justification. But I understand it now. Surely the media attention was planned. This was a player who if you told him, "I bet you can't throw the ball through a tire on a moving pick up truck going 50 from across the highway" would have said, "Watch me.

The man who overcame addiction to pain killers and alcohol, not to mention unspeakable and untimely loss in his family. A man who played and often lived with reckless abandon, hoping for the best, was always both dazzling and maddeningly disappointing.

That was who we saw since Brett showed up on Fox News airing his dirty laundry for the word to see. If anyone should have seen this kind of reckless, brazen, self-aggrandizement coupled with the, "Aww shucks," of a southern boy, it was Packer fans. Minnesota fans got a taste of it in his miraculous season with them, ending on his infamous interception in the NFC Championship game. Not just a great football player, but the kind of guy you can cheer for.

At the very least, Rodgers believes the Packers front office should have consulted him or given him advance warning. More importantly, this is a very bad look for Rodgers.

For the record, I grew up in Wisconsin and started my television career there. If I have to be be brutally honest, I must admit that I have a Rodgers jersey hanging in my closet.

Like many Packers fans, I am disappointed that all this has transpired. Unfortunately, I am not surprised. The behavior in that led to Mike McCarthy getting fired mid-season is one example. At the same time, Rodgers has done many great things for the Packers, the city of Green Bay, and the state of Wisconsin. His charity work is significant and goes mostly unreported. Perhaps, but is that transgression really worth throwing away a legacy with the most historic franchise in the NFL?

However, one could easily argue that the GM was simply acting in the best interest of the organization. Rodgers is a great player. He is also a year-old quarterback with a history of injury who is fickle enough to retire from football and host a game show.

If something were to happen to Rodgers and the Packers were not prepared, Gutekunst would get fired, and rightly so. The Packers have treated Rodgers very well over the years.

In , they drafted him in the first round when 23 other teams passed on him. In , they stuck with him through the Brett Favre drama. In , they fired the coach he had grown tired of.

The next season, they hired a coach who ran the offense he wanted. On top of that, the Packers have made Rodgers a rich man. There are also reports that the team has offered Rodgers a new contract that will make him the richest player in the NFL. Favre refused to mentor Rodgers or even deign to even say hello for the first 6 months or so. Even Green Bay fans turned on Rodgers claiming he was awful in pre games with scrubs and even booed him at training camp. Remember all those Super Bowls won in Minnesoooota…..

Lions and Vikings are 2nd rate franchises. Grow the hell up trolls. Two championships in the last 40 years hardly puts them in the category of the other teams. Then the Packets need corporations to buy out unsold tickets so the game will not be blacked out. Both choked in games when it counts the most. Harlan hired Wolf. Wolf hired Holmgren and Favre. Favre attracted Reggie White. Packers fans stopped having to get stoked by Chuck Cecil helmet-to-helmet hits. You must be logged in to leave a comment.

I sure miss watching him play. He was the most entertaining man in football. Good, bad, and the ugly. The atmosphere is awesome here. Everyone is jacked. Not love so much as no longer actively hate. Legends never die. Rodgers is right. Favre broke most of the records with the Packers.

Wisconsin the Alabama of the Midwest. Are you sure Rodgers is quoted accurately? Their doing it this weekend? Why not during the season. I know I do. Brett Diva Favre. I have a ton of respect for both Rodgers and Favre.

Packers fans have always loved Favre…. Arizona should have signed him last year. Probably still better than 19 starters in the league on most days: Matt Cassel BUF Will never complete a pass past 4 yards.

This world is about forgiveness with your eyes wide open. Can someone let me know? He was the best QB we had in some time, a real gamer. Favre is a legend but Aaron Rodgers will go down as the better QB. If you are a Packers fan, is there really any reason to hate Farve play on the field?

Its time for Arron Rodgers to let everyone know exactly who he is. Bo Darville says: His best year was as a Viking. We all need to listen to you. ReligionIsForIdiots says: Green Bay is one of the greatest franchise in sports history, and should be treated with respect.

And the Vikings in their entire history? Participation medals. Green Bay is lucky to have two hall of fame QBs but one guy is all class. I have forgiven Brett! GO Pack! Rodgers is a bad dude.. Any QB that can make fans forget about Favre is great!!! Leave a Reply Cancel reply You must be logged in to leave a comment. Post was not sent - check your email addresses!
